Orin Mennary is a free hymnal. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking of individuals. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to your information when you use the website or the mobile app.
What stays on your device
Some things are remembered so the hymnal works the way you left it. They are saved on your own phone or browser and are never sent to us:
- the hymns you mark as favourites
- your choices: dark or light mode, lyric size, high contrast and reduced motion
- your recent searches, and the sort or theme you last chose
- that you have already seen the introduction
Because this lives only on your device, we cannot see it, and it does not follow you to another device. You can remove it at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser, or by deleting the app.
What is collected when you visit
We do not collect your name, email address or phone number, because there is nothing to sign up for. Like any website, the services that deliver it (our host, Vercel, and our content service, Sanity) receive basic technical details with each request, such as your IP address, the page asked for and your browser type. They use these to deliver the content and keep the service secure. The mobile app downloads the hymn text from the same content service and keeps a copy on your phone so it works offline.
Cookies, analytics and ads
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share your information. On the website we count visits with Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service. It sets no cookies, does not follow you from site to site, and does not store your IP address or any personal details. It tells us only totals, such as which pages are read, roughly which countries visitors come from and what kind of device they use, so we can see which hymns help people and keep the site fast. The mobile app has no analytics.
Links to other services
The “Listen” buttons open the hymn on services such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Audiomack and Boomplay. Once you leave Orin Mennary, that service’s own privacy policy applies. The Share buttons use your device’s normal share menu.
Supporting the mission
The Support card shows a bank account so that you can send a gift through your own bank. We do not take payments inside the website or the app, and we never see your banking details.
Children
The hymnal is suitable for all ages. Because we collect no personal information, there is nothing about a child that we hold.
Changes to this policy
If this changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
